Happy Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

So I’m just about uptodate with pictures on my blog. Heading out on a little Southern African adventure on the 17th so I wanted to post a “Merry Christmas” and hope that it’s a lovely Christmas.

It’s quite surreal spending Christmas in a warm place. Seeing santa sweating in his suit, hearing “White Christmas” while wandering around in shorts is quite unique. I never knew that I associate the dark, cold and wet of December in Scotland so much with Christmas time!

Heading up to Victoria Falls (Zambia) this week for a few days to see the wonderful sight, do some white water rafting on the Zambezi (supposedly the best river to raft on!). Spending Christmas in an orphanage in the north of Mozambique. I am sure that will be an eye-opener and an adventurous way to spend Christmas loving some little ones.

With love to you all. Have a great Christmas!

Oom Samie Se Winkel, Stellenbosch

There's a well known shop in Stellenbosch - Oom Samie se Winkel. It has just about everything in it, from second hand 1970s dresses to stuffed toy elephants! Quite the attraction!

Wine Tasting, not on horseback!

Table Mountain and Devil's Peak in the distance!

Hermanus and Whale Spotting!

The avid whale spotter ...

Gordon's Bay, R44!

Africa Cafe!

The African experience! Quite like African Tapas - 14 dishes from all over Africa to taste.

Lots of laughing (of course!)

Baboons

There are lots of baboons living in the Table Mountian National Park which stretches down to Cape Point.

Cape Point in Gale Force Winds!

At the best of times Cape Point is windy, but on this blowy day it was crazy! But still pretty scenic.

Blowing in the wind!

Shortly before I blew off the end!

Penguins at Boulder's Beach

Here we are visiting the Penguins again ... this visit we almost blew away! It was blowing a fair gale.

Chapman's Peak

Haven't driven Chapman's Peak since the first weekend I was in South Africa. The road was closed for a while because large car-sized rocks were falling! It's reopened now (and thankfully we didn't meet any car-sized rocks)

First stop for lunch but we nearly blew away!

Robben Island Gateway

Me and Anne!

On their trip to Robben Island (I waved them off from the shore!)

Surfing Etiquette

I haven't learned to surf yet (transfering that to my 2008 resolutions!) but I did learn from Rico and Burgert about surfing etiquette and warm up exercises (!) ...

Little Pictures of Betty's Bay!

Not sure if you'll even be able to see these but they are some pictures from Betty's Bay. Don't know why they're so small! Perhaps cos they're "borrowed!"

At the beach - Betty's Bay

At the beach in Betty's Bay ...

Some pretty amazing clouds coming in, but by 10am it was too cloudy to sunbathe!

At the beach - Koolbay

Since it's hot and sunny here (which still feels very strange in December) we went to the beach! This is Koolbay and my first time out in a bikini for a while ... (sorry, no pictures!)

Farewell Braai

Mark, Charis & Rod (Mark was incharge of the cooking, hence the large clipper things!)

Rod, Charis, Ronel

There are lots of my new-ish friends leaving at the end of the year. Perhaps it was my arrival into Stellenbosch that has sent everyone away! But hopefully I'll still have a friend or two left for next year.
