Suspension Bridge - Stormsriver

In the Tsitsikama National Park we hiked (as much as you can call it hiking in flip flops on a slippy boardwalk type path) along to a suspension bridge at Stormsriver mouth.

The bridge ... (obviously!)

It seems that when Erin and I travel together there is at least one shakey bridge involved!! Just like the many pictures on Carrick-a-Reed rope bridge (N Ireland), here we are again!!

(I think it's the same face as the Carrick-a-reed rope bridge!)

The view into the river ...

Tsitsikama National Park

It's a must visit to go to Tsitsikama National Park (don't tell Kiera and Mindy!). And it's beautiful.

Stormsriver with Erin ...

Erin arrived in South Africa on the Sunday night and Monday morning we headed off up the Garden Route towards the beaches and sunshine and for my first trip to the Eastern Cape! Advise from the adventure crew (thanks Ronel) took us to Stormsriver for a couple of nights. We stayed at the Tube 'n Axe backpackers (hostel) in the little town of Stormsriver. Packed with excitement and adventure we had a great time!!

The backpackers ...

The bathrooms

Our room ....

Ah, yellowwood ... the door that caused us trouble by locking us out AND in!! We had trouble opening it from the outside and the inside!!

The first night we were there after saying we'd go to the fire for 1 drink and a bit of chat, we arrived back at our room late-late and the door wouldn't open! Thanks to the barman (Thanks Louis) we got in! The second night we were in bed reasonably early and all locked up. Erin needed the bathroom during the night and the door wouldn't open. After great hilarity (it must have been a sight even in the dark!) she climbed out of the window down more than one storey into the bushes!! Of course, help arrived and opened our door, but not before she'd got out and through the yard to the proper bathroom!!

The largest keychain in the world obviously didn't help!!

Erin ready with the camera ...

Really, there is no need to have cctv cameras at a backpackers!! Erin and I are worried we might not be welcomed back there :o)

Marelise & Rico Wedding, Uitkyk Wine Farm

The perfect location for Rico & Marelise to get married - Uitkyk Wine Farm. The weather was just about perfect (a few rain drops during the ceremony) but the perfect location and a wonderful outdoor wedding. 100% Rico and Marelise - the whole event! It was great to celebrate with them and to celebrate them!
